No, Joy Scouts was inspired by founder Jennifer Ballard’s 16 years as a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America (now called Scouts USA), but it is not affiliated with either Scouts USA or Girl Scouts USA. Read our origin story here.
Any woman (recommended 40+) who is looking for fun activities and friendship is welcome to join. You don’t have to have kids, though most members are empty nest or near-empty nesters. Past or present Scouter experience is not required.
Joy Scoutz currently has a free blog and newsletter. We also have a presence on Facebook and Instagram.
We’ll be adding badges and activities soon. Those will be available with a la carte pricing, or by joining a paid community.

You did it! You did your job.
The kiddos are grown up (or getting close). They’re ready to spread their wings and soar off into independence. This may leave you feeling a little lonely, a little aimless, a little unsettled, and wondering, ‘What should I do next?’
After identifying as ‘Mom’ for so long, it’s hard to remember who you were before careers, kids, and chaos…before life took over.
Do you have friendships you’ve neglected? Hobbies you’ve abandoned? Dreams that slipped away in the busy-ness of adulting? Do you sometimes look at your husband (if you've got one), and think, ‘Who is this guy?’
